CORRECTION: On Thursday, 5/21/15, the Awards Ceremony for Grades 1st through 7th is in the Lorio Center, at 8:00 am (Not 8:30 as previously listed).

SLKF CO-OP: We are so excited to announce the creation of the SLKF Co-op for the 2015-2016 school year! This parent volunteer program will replace the SLKF Parent’s Club, but will still support the school much as the Parent’s Club has done for so long. Your involvement on any level is encouraged and appreciated. By working together as a community, we can use our collective resources to provide enriching opportunities for our children.

As a parent or grandparent of an SLKF student, you are automatically a member of the SLKF Co-op, and we encourage you to partner with us in making the 2015-2016 school year our best yet! Please fill out the form below and return it to school office.

BUCKTOWN SEAFOOD FESTIVAL NEWS (October 23-25, 2015): Contest for any SLKF student in Kindergarten- 7th grade. Help us design the 2015 Bucktown Seafood Fest t-shirt! Please see the information sheet below for details. NOTE: The deadline has been extended to June 1 – Submissions may be dropped off in the school office anytime.

BSF 2015 T-Shirt Design Contest

LIBRARY INFORMATION: All library books are due back to the library NOW! Any student who has lost or damaged a library book beyond repair will be asked to pay the replacement cost of the book. All books must be returned/replacement costs paid immediately. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Windham at kwindham@slkfschool.com.

CAMP CRUSADER: Looking for something for your children to do this summer that is FUN, educational, and safe? Join us for Camp Crusader, SLKF’s own Day Camp.

Camp is open to boys and girls entering PK4 – 7th grade and will be staffed by SLKF teachers and college students. Activities include daily swimming in our ON-SITE pool, arts & crafts, indoor & outdoor sports, science & computer fun, cooking and lots of fun!

We have on-site presentations from the Louisiana Children’s Museum, Audubon Zoo, Insectarium & Aquarium, Posh Paint Pub, Rolling Video Games Express, World War II Museum, Crescent City Circus and much, much more.

Weekly Sessions: $140.00 per week.

May 26th – July 24th, 9 am – 3 pm.

$50 Registration includes one camp t-shirt.

Before Care: 7:30 – 9 :00 am – no charge.

After care: 3:00 – 6:00 pm – $8/day

MEDICINE: Before you leave for the summer, please pick up any medication that you have brought to the office for your child. Any medication not picked up at the end of the school year will be thrown away.


Ponseti’s Shoes will offer a 10% discount off regular price of school shoes during the month of July, 2015 (flyer will be sent home before the end of school).

  • 15% off of school uniforms during the month of May, 2015

USED UNIFORM SALE: Dates for the Used Uniform Sale are as follows:

RECYCLE REMINDER: SLKF receives cash, books, etc., for the following items, which you can send to school with your child:

  • Box Tops for Education
  • Community Coffee Proof of Purchase UPCs
  • Used printer/toner cartridges (from home or business computers)
  • Used cell phones
  • Education/Campbell soup labels
  • Pull tabs from soda cans

Please continue to collect over the summer and drop off items anytime (office open 7 am – 6 pm daily).
